Sweet Pearl

-by Vanessa (6th grade)

Once there was a man named James Mathew. He lived in a small town called Assam. Ever since he was a boy, he never believed in God, because his mother had died when he was five. He thought if God existed, he would have saved his mother.

James Mathew got married to a woman who did not know God either. After some days his wife was going to have a child, and some days later they got a baby girl. She looked beautiful. She was precious to them, so they named her Pearl. James decided not to tell Pearl about God. They were all happy with the child, but not until her third birthday. That was the day when she was going to be three, and had to start her school. James did not want Pearl to go to school, because if she would make friends in school, they would tell her about God, so he decided not to send Pearl to school. He taught her in the house, and from that day onwards, he would not let her go out of the house.

One day, when James and Pearl were outside planting seeds in their garden, Pearl looked at some pretty flowers and said, “Daddy, look at those beautiful flowers, blue skies, butterflies, and trees. I wonder who made them. I would like to thank that person. I have a lot of respect for him.” James thought about that. Even if the child’s saying was short and brief, it had a lot of meaning in it. James thought and thought about that, and at last realized that there is a God. A God who is true, loving and caring. He also realized, if we try to misunderstand Him, He always gives us signs to correct them.

Now the man James, who never believed in God, now had a great respect for Him. He decided to go the church every Sunday. He went to the church the next Sunday; everyone was surprised to see him. The last time some of them saw him was when he was four and a half years old. He too only saw some of the people who were there was when he was small.

Many died or had shifted from that place. He gave his testimony and told his story to everyone. Now James’ wife knew about God and they loved their daughter very much because she was the one who introduced God to them.

James Mathew now sent his daughter to school. She was brilliant in her class and told about Jesus and God not only to her friends but also to her teacher as well and the whole school. When she grew up, she became a missionary.

James and wife were proud of their daughter and they still believe in God. All this happened because of a small child. Children are most precious to God.
