And He said to them, "Why did you seek
Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father's business?"
Luke 2: v 49
Life
is a journey. Every journey has a purpose and a destination.
"What
do you want to be when you grow up?" is a universal question.
Every child changes his or her ambition while growing. Jesus was
an exception. He was born with a destiny and His ambition was to do the
Father's will. When He was
twelve years old, He told Mary and Joseph that He must be minding the
Father's business (Luke 2:49).
Since
Jesus was always in the Father's presence, the Spirit of God revealed
all things to Him. He knew
who He was and what he was supposed to do.
He had absolutely no confusion in His mind about His calling in
Life. In His first sermon
in a Jewish synagogue He spelt out His mission, quoting the 61st chapter
of Isaiah. He also moved in
the timing of the Father. He
did not meet anyone, go anywhere or do anything without the Holy
Spirit's direction. He
always knew where He had to be and what He had to do.
He said His food was to do His father's will (John
4:34). He was always mindful of
the things of God and was not mindful of the things of the world or man.
He always denied Himself to fulfill the Father's desire.
On the night before He was killed, He told the Father, "I
have finished the work which you have given me to do" (John
17:4). When He was with
Mary and Joseph in Nazareth as a little boy, He was in the will of the
Father. When He lived and
worked as a carpenter in Nazareth, He was doing His Father's bidding.
When He stepped out for public ministry, He was on time.
Beloved,
like Jesus, our heavenly Father has created each of us for a purpose.
Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you your calling and destiny.
Once God reveals His plans and purposes for your life, that becomes the
Father's will and the business of your Life. The Father desires us to be
in His house and to take care of His business.
